The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has released a new video documenting its attack on a Nigerian Army position in Mairari, Borno State. The assault, which took place yesterday, targeted a military base in the insurgency-prone region, further highlighting the ongoing security challenges in northeastern Nigeria.

In the footage circulated by the terror group, fighters are seen launching the attack and later displaying weapons, ammunition, and military equipment allegedly seized from the Nigerian soldiers stationed at the base. The items showcased include rifles, magazines, tactical gear, and other supplies claimed to have been captured during the offensive.

The release of the video is part of ISWAP’s ongoing propaganda efforts aimed at showcasing operational strength and undermining military morale. While the Nigerian Army has yet to issue an official statement regarding the attack or confirm casualties, the incident adds to a series of recent confrontations between troops and insurgents in the region.

Mairari, located within Borno State’s volatile zone, has experienced recurrent militant activities despite intensified counterterrorism operations. The latest attack underscores the continued threat posed by ISWAP and the pressing need for sustained security interventions.
