Tensions are rising in South Africa as a group of South African women took to the streets in protest, declaring “Nigeria must go.” The demonstrators accused Nigerian nationals of overstepping boundaries and engaging in actions that undermine local communities.

Speaking during the protest, one of the women recalled a disturbing incident earlier in the year where South African women were reportedly stripped naked on the streets in Nigeria, describing it as an act of humiliation that still fuels resentment.

“They occupy our buildings and do as they please, but now our government seems blind to how they’ve been overstepping for years,” one protester said, expressing anger at what they perceive as growing disregard for South African citizens.

Videos from the protest have circulated widely on social media, showing groups of women chanting and carrying placards calling for stricter immigration control and protection for South African citizens.

Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the protest, but security operatives have been deployed in parts of the city to maintain peace and order.
