A representative of the Nigerian Police Force has paid a condolence visit to the family of Chigozie Ifeonu, popularly known as Chizi Benz or Chiboy, who was brutally stabbed to death in Ogheghe community, Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred after a dispute between Chizi Benz, a suspected internet fraudster, and a Hausa youth allegedly over a failed deal. The altercation turned deadly when Chizi Benz was reportedly stabbed, leading to his death.
The tragic killing triggered a violent confrontation between Hausa residents and indigenous youths in Ogheghe, resulting in injuries to several individuals and escalating tensions across Benin City. Eyewitnesses said angry youths took to the streets wielding dangerous weapons in a revenge mission following the news of Chizi Benz’s death.
In response, police authorities have moved to restore peace in the area. A delegation from the Nigerian Police Force visited the deceased’s family to offer condolences and assure them that justice will be served. Security operatives have also been deployed to maintain order and prevent further violence.
The Edo State Police Command has called for calm, urging residents to allow law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing and the ensuing unrest.
