U.S. Vice President JD Vance has emphasized the importance of maintaining and testing America’s nuclear arsenal to ensure its continued readiness and effectiveness.

Speaking on the nation’s defense capabilities, Vance noted that while the United States possesses one of the largest nuclear stockpiles in the world, regular assessments are essential to guarantee its operational reliability.

“We have a big arsenal, obviously. The Russians have a large nuclear arsenal, and the Chinese have a large nuclear arsenal,” Vance said. “Sometimes you’ve got to test it to make sure it’s functioning and working. We know that it does work properly, but you’ve got to keep on top of it.”

His remarks highlight ongoing concerns about global nuclear stability and the need for strategic preparedness amid rising tensions among world powers. Defense analysts say Vance’s statement underscores Washington’s commitment to maintaining a credible deterrent while ensuring that the nation’s nuclear capabilities remain secure and technologically advanced.
