Disturbing reports have emerged from El Fasher, where UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militias have been accused of killing civilians attempting to flee the city. A circulating video on social media shows armed militants chasing and shooting at people in what appears to be a coordinated assault on fleeing residents.
In the footage, one of the militants can be heard shouting “kill the Nuba”, a phrase reportedly used as an incitement to target Black civilians in the region.
The ongoing violence has intensified fears of escalating ethnic attacks in Sudan’s Darfur region, where RSF forces have been repeatedly accused of committing atrocities against non-Arab communities.
Human rights observers have called for immediate international intervention and a full investigation into the latest killings, warning that the situation in El Fasher could spiral into another large-scale humanitarian crisis.
