The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested popular Nigerian socialite and entrepreneur Mike “Pretty Mike” Nwogu, former Big Brother Naija housemate Tuoyo Ideh, and more than 100 others during a late-night raid at Proxy Nightclub in Victoria Island, Lagos.
According to a statement released on Sunday by NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the arrests were made during a drug-themed party at the club, located at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island.
“Over 100 suspects, including the owner of the club, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, also known as Pretty Mike, were arrested and taken into custody for screening,” the statement read.
Babafemi further revealed that cartons of illicit substances, including loud (a potent strain of cannabis) and laughing gas, were recovered from partygoers and the club’s storage area.
The operation was based on credible intelligence about a planned drug party. NDLEA operatives, who had been embedded at the event since 11 p.m. on Saturday, disrupted the gathering around 3 a.m. on Sunday, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The NDLEA has confirmed that all suspects are currently being profiled and investigated, while the agency continues its crackdown on drug-related activities in entertainment venues across the country.
