The Ukrainian military has announced the successful destruction of a Russian Mi-28 attack helicopter using a drone strike, marking another significant blow to Moscow’s air power.
According to Robert “Magyar” Brovdi, Commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, the helicopter was targeted and destroyed by operators of the 59th Brigade using an FPV kamikaze drone. A video released by Brovdi captured the precise moment the drone struck the Russian aircraft.
The operation took place near the village of Kotliarivka, with officials highlighting that the successful strike was the result of coordinated efforts between intelligence units and unmanned aerial systems teams.
Brovdi warned that Russian forces should expect further losses if they continue to underestimate Ukraine’s drone warfare capabilities. “Anyone who flies there ‘to have a look’ should be ready. Next time don’t give us any ‘surprises’ from the air – it will cost you dearly,” he stated.
The strike underscores the growing role of drone technology in modern warfare, as Ukraine continues to leverage unmanned systems to counter Russia’s aerial and ground superiority.
