More than 1,000 people have taken to the streets of Newcastle today in a heated demonstration over immigration, with both an anti-immigration march and a counter-protest unfolding simultaneously.
The rally, organized by the UK Independence Party (UKIP), is centered on demands for “mass deportations.” Party members are expected to deliver speeches following the march, emphasizing their stance on immigration and border control.
At the same time, a counter-protest is taking place nearby, drawing opponents of UKIP’s message. Authorities have warned that “significant numbers” of demonstrators are expected on both sides. Police have confirmed that security measures are in place to maintain public order and ensure the safety of all participants.
The parallel protests highlight the deep divisions in the UK’s immigration debate, with tensions running high in Newcastle as campaigners from opposing sides face off in the city.
