Several fuel tankers were destroyed early this morning along the Narena–Bamako road in Mali, in what local sources allege was an attack carried out by fighters linked to Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM).

The incident, which disrupted transport on one of the country’s key routes, highlights the ongoing security challenges facing Mali as armed groups continue to target infrastructure and commercial convoys.

While officials have yet to release a detailed statement, the attack underscores the persistent threat of extremist activity in the region, where militant groups affiliated with al-Qaeda and other networks have maintained a strong presence.
