A trader popularly referred to as Egbon Adugbo has raised concerns over the rising cost of goods in local markets, blaming the influence of internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo Boys.
Speaking out in frustration, the trader alleged that these young men do not negotiate prices when shopping for clothes, thereby encouraging sellers to hike prices for everyone else. According to him, the trend is worsening inflation in local markets and making it increasingly difficult for average buyers to afford basic clothing.
“Yahoo Boys should not enter the market again. They don’t use to price clothes, and they are making things very expensive for us,” he lamented.
The remarks have sparked discussions among Nigerians on social media, with many debating whether such behavior significantly contributes to the rising cost of goods or whether broader economic factors remain the real cause.
