Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele has been crowned the Ballon d’Or winner for the first time in his career, capping off a sensational season that saw him lead PSG to unprecedented success.
The 28-year-old French international enjoyed his best-ever campaign, scoring 35 goals and providing 14 assists in 53 appearances as PSG secured a historic treble, including their first-ever UEFA Champions League title. Dembele also finished as Ligue 1’s joint top scorer with 21 goals and was named both Ligue 1 Player of the Year and Champions League Player of the Year.
His contributions extended beyond Europe as he played a crucial role in PSG’s run to the FIFA Club World Cup final, where they narrowly lost to Chelsea in New Jersey.
At the prestigious ceremony in Paris, Dembele beat Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal to claim football’s most coveted individual prize. The PSG star was visibly emotional, breaking into tears as he stood on stage to accept the award.
Although PSG were in action on Monday evening—suffering a 1-0 home defeat to Marseille in a rescheduled Ligue 1 match due to a storm—Dembele was able to attend the event. Currently sidelined with an injury, he missed the game but marked the biggest milestone of his career with his Ballon d’Or triumph.
The award cements Dembele’s place among football’s elite and represents a landmark moment for both him and Paris Saint-Germain, as he becomes one of the few players in history to lift the Ballon d’Or after delivering a treble-winning season.
