Tension has gripped Lagos Island as residents took to the streets in a peaceful protest following the brutal assault and death of a young man identified as Ramoni. The tragic incident has been linked to Shamsideen Oladiti, a National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) leader in the area, popularly known as Shameleon.

According to reports, Ramoni was allegedly attacked by Shamsideen and his boys on Tapa Street, Lagos Island. The assault reportedly turned fatal, sparking outrage among locals who described the act as unjust and inhumane.

The Lagos State Police Command has since confirmed the arrest of the 55-year-old NURTW boss in connection with the incident. Police authorities assured residents that justice will be served and investigations are ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the case.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the dispatch rider was brutally beaten before succumbing to his injuries, an act that has drawn widespread condemnation across the state. The peaceful protest on Lagos Island saw residents demanding accountability and calling for stronger measures against violent acts often associated with transport union members.

The death of Ramoni has reignited public debate over the recurring clashes and violent behavior linked to factions within the NURTW. Many Nigerians on social media have also expressed shock, urging the authorities to ensure that those responsible are prosecuted without delay.

The Lagos State Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order while assuring the public that further updates on the investigation would be communicated in due course.
