Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel has sparked controversy after weighing in on the death of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk during his monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live Monday night.
Kimmel criticized right-wing commentators for their reaction to the arrest of 22-year-old Utah native Tyler Robinson, the suspect accused of killing Kirk. He claimed conservatives were going to “new lows” by attempting to distance the accused from the pro-Trump movement.
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said.
The late-night comedian also mocked former President Donald Trump’s response to Kirk’s death, insinuating that the suspect was aligned with the “MAGA gang” despite right-wing narratives suggesting otherwise.
The remarks have fueled heated debate online, with critics accusing Kimmel of politicizing a tragedy, while supporters argue he highlighted hypocrisy in how the story is being framed across political lines.
