A branch of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) on Lagos Island has been gutted by fire, causing panic among workers and residents in the area.
The details surrounding the cause of the outbreak remain unclear as at the time of filing this report. Eyewitnesses say thick smoke was seen billowing from the building as people rushed to safety.
Emergency responders and fire service officials were quickly mobilized to the scene in an effort to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings. So far, there have been no confirmed reports of casualties, but concerns remain over the extent of property damage.
