Panic erupted today at the United Bank for Africa (UBA) branch on Lagos Island as a fire broke out, forcing staff and customers to scramble for safety.
In a video currently circulating on social media, some employees of the bank were seen attempting to escape the flames by jumping from a storey building. One staff member was captured leaping down in desperation as thick smoke engulfed parts of the structure.
The cause of the fire remains unknown at the time of this report, but emergency responders and firefighters have been deployed to the scene to bring the situation under control. Eyewitnesses described chaotic moments as workers rushed to exit the building while onlookers gathered outside.
Although no official statement has been released yet regarding casualties or the extent of damage, the incident has raised fresh concerns about safety protocols and emergency preparedness in commercial establishments within Lagos Island’s busy business district.
