Tension flared on the Ibeju-Lekki–Ajah Expressway in Lagos State after a commercial motorcyclist, popularly known as an okada rider, was reportedly killed by a policeman.
The incident sparked outrage among residents and fellow motorcyclists, who quickly gathered in protest, blocking parts of the busy highway. The demonstration caused gridlock along the route, leaving commuters stranded and disrupting commercial activities in the area.
Eyewitnesses alleged that the altercation between the policeman and the okada rider escalated before the fatal incident occurred. The development has fueled anger over recurring clashes between security personnel and commercial motorcyclists across Lagos.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incident, but additional security operatives were deployed to the scene to restore calm and prevent further escalation.
The situation remains tense as residents continue to demand justice for the slain rider.
