Yoruba nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, stirred fresh controversy on Friday during his visit to Ife, Osun State, after making bold claims about the Alaafin’s crown.

Speaking before traditional leaders and supporters, Igboho stated that the crown currently associated with the Alaafin was not originally his, but belonged to his own father. He alleged that the royal crown was taken from his family and given to the Alaafin.

According to him, “Alaafin has no crown; it was my father’s crown they collected and dashed to the Alaafin.”

His remarks have drawn mixed reactions within Yoruba sociopolitical circles, as the statement touches on sensitive cultural and historical matters tied to the revered Alaafin stool.

The visit to Ife comes at a time of heightened debates about Yoruba heritage, traditional authority, and the role of prominent figures like Sunday Igboho in shaping regional discourse.
