U.S. Senator Tom Cotton has issued a firm statement holding Hamas responsible for the malnutrition crisis affecting children in Gaza. In his remarks, the senator directly pointed to the militant group’s actions, accusing it of manipulating humanitarian aid for its own purposes.
“There is one party to blame for children who are malnourished in Gaza: Hamas,” Cotton said. “Hamas has used food as a weapon for years by commandeering aid and prioritizing their own fighters.”

The statement underscores ongoing concerns from U.S. lawmakers and international observers who have accused Hamas of obstructing the flow of humanitarian assistance and diverting resources away from civilians.

Aid agencies operating in the region have repeatedly called for unobstructed access and greater transparency to ensure relief reaches the most vulnerable populations, especially children.
Cotton’s comments add to a growing chorus in Washington pressing for accountability in the distribution of international aid. While the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire due to the ongoing conflict and blockade, critics argue that Hamas’s tactics have further deepened civilian suffering.
