Taif, Saudi Arabia — A terrifying incident unfolded at Green Mountain Park in the Al Hada area of Taif on Thursday, as a popular amusement ride malfunctioned and collapsed, leaving at least 23 people injured, including three in critical condition.

The accident occurred on the ‘360 Degrees’ thrill ride, which features a large central pole designed to swing riders in wide arcs.

Shocking video footage circulating on social media shows the ride operating as usual before a sudden, loud cracking noise breaks the atmosphere. Within seconds, the ride’s anchoring pole snaps in half, sending the arm and seated riders crashing to the ground.

Screams and prayers from those onboard filled the air as the ride collapsed with a deafening thud. Some of the injured were struck by parts of the ride that recoiled at high speed, hitting bystanders on the opposite side. Others sustained injuries while still seated on the falling structure.

According to Khaleej Times, eyewitnesses described the moment as sheer chaos, with panicked screams and the swift arrival of emergency teams. Security forces and medical responders arrived on the scene within minutes, providing first aid to the injured before transporting them to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

Authorities in Taif have launched an urgent investigation to determine the exact cause of the ride’s failure. Engineers and safety experts are expected to examine whether the ride’s structure met safety standards and whether negligence or wear and tear may have contributed to the collapse.

The horrifying event has sparked concern across the country about amusement park safety and the need for stricter oversight of mechanical rides, especially in high-traffic tourist areas like Taif, known for its cool climate and scenic views.

Green Mountain Park has not yet released an official statement, but the park has reportedly suspended all operations related to the ‘360 Degrees’ ride until further notice.
