During a stop in Scotland on Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to European leaders over immigration, claiming it is “killing” the continent and calling on governments to “get their act together” to stop what he described as a “horrible invasion.”
Speaking to reporters on the tarmac after disembarking from Air Force One, Trump criticized what he sees as unchecked migration across Europe, asserting that the continent is at risk of losing its identity if immediate action is not taken.

“You’re not going to have Europe anymore if this continues,” he said. “You’ve got to stop the horrible invasion that’s happening to Europe—many countries in Europe.”

Trump’s remarks come amid growing debates in Europe over asylum policies, border control, and national identity, as countries grapple with waves of migrants fleeing conflict, poverty, and political instability. His comments are likely to fuel further polarization across the Atlantic, particularly as immigration remains a hot-button issue in both U.S. and European politics.

While Trump didn’t name specific countries, he acknowledged that some European leaders have resisted the trend and deserve recognition. “Some leaders haven’t allowed it to happen, and they’re not getting the proper credit,” he noted. “I could name them right now, but I’m going to embarrass other ones.”
The statements are notable not only for their tone but also for their irony: Trump himself is a descendant of European immigrants. His mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, emigrated from Scotland, while his father, Fred Trump, was of German heritage.

Trump’s warning adds to a growing list of controversial immigration-related remarks during his presidency, and it may stir further reactions among European allies already wary of his populist rhetoric. As immigration continues to shape global political narratives, Trump’s comments underscore the deeply divided views on how nations should balance security, sovereignty, and humanitarian responsibility.
