Malcolm-Jamal Warner, ‘Cosby Show’ Star Drowns in Costa Rica

Malcolm-Jamal Warner, the beloved actor best known for his role as Theo Huxtable on the iconic television series The Cosby Show, has died at the age of 54. According to a source close to the family, Warner tragically passed away in a drowning accident while vacationing with loved ones in Costa Rica.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon at Playa Grande, a beach in the town of Cocles on the Caribbean coast, within Costa Rica’s Limón province.

Local authorities confirmed that Warner was pulled into deeper waters by a strong current around 2:30 p.m. Despite efforts from beachgoers and first responders, Warner was pronounced dead at the scene by the Red Cross.

Born in New Jersey, Warner began acting at the age of nine and quickly rose to prominence for his portrayal of Theo, the only son of Heathcliff and Claire Huxtable, in the groundbreaking NBC sitcom The Cosby Show, which aired from 1984 to 1992.
