Barcelona football prodigy Lamine Yamal has found himself at the center of controversy following his recent 18th birthday celebration.
The Spanish government has officially called for an investigation into the event after allegations surfaced that individuals with dwarfism were hired as entertainers, potentially breaching disability rights laws.
Spain’s Ministry for Social Rights has requested that the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Spanish Ombudsman, and the Office for Combating Hate Crimes investigate whether any laws were violated during the private party, which took place just outside Barcelona.

The ministry is specifically concerned about whether the event contravened laws that prohibit shows which demean or ridicule individuals with disabilities.

Although party guests were reportedly asked not to use their phones, videos began circulating online showing individuals with dwarfism arriving at the venue. The footage quickly went viral, prompting public outrage and official condemnation from advocacy groups.

The Association for People with Achondroplasia and Other Skeletal Dysplasias with Dwarfism (ADEE) publicly denounced the alleged hiring, calling it a clear violation of both legal protections and ethical principles.

In a strong statement, the organization declared its intention to pursue legal and social action in defense of the dignity and rights of people with disabilities.
Yamal, who celebrated his milestone birthday on July 13, has not publicly responded to the growing backlash. The incident has sparked a national conversation in Spain around ableism, entertainment ethics, and the responsibilities of public figures, especially young athletes in the spotlight.
