A woman in London has spoken out just moments after falling victim to one of the city’s increasingly common street crimes — a targeted iPhone robbery carried out in broad daylight.

The visibly shaken victim, who had been walking through a busy part of central London, described how a group of individuals approached her swiftly and snatched her phone in seconds before disappearing into the crowd.

“It happened so fast — one second I had my phone, and the next, it was gone,” she said in a video interview recorded shortly after the incident.

The crime fits a pattern that has become all too familiar to residents of the city, with thieves using scooters, e-bikes, or simply moving on foot to snatch high-value smartphones from unsuspecting pedestrians. Often, the robberies are executed with precision and speed, giving victims little to no time to react.

London’s Metropolitan Police have issued multiple warnings over the past year about this growing trend, urging the public to remain alert, especially when using phones in public areas. Some of the more organized groups are believed to be behind a wave of similar attacks, targeting tourists and locals alike.

“It makes you feel really vulnerable — like you can’t even use your phone in your own city,” the woman added, describing the emotional toll of the incident.

Authorities continue to investigate these cases, but with many of the suspects wearing masks and fleeing into traffic or side streets, arrests remain challenging. Police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage in high-risk areas to come forward.
