Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates has publicly expressed regret over his past association with the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In a recent interview, Gates addressed his controversial meetings with Epstein, stating plainly, “I regretted having those dinners with Epstein.”
Gates’ connection to Epstein has drawn scrutiny in recent years, particularly after Epstein’s arrest and subsequent death in 2019. While Gates has maintained that his meetings with Epstein were focused on philanthropic discussions, he acknowledged that continuing those engagements was a serious misjudgment.

“I made a big mistake not understanding the situation more deeply,” Gates previously said in interviews, reiterating that he never had a business relationship or personal friendship with Epstein. Still, the acknowledgment of regret reflects a deeper awareness of the implications those meetings had on his public image and philanthropic work.

The meetings reportedly took place in the early 2010s, years after Epstein had been convicted of sex crimes involving minors. Gates has stated that he believed Epstein might offer valuable insights into global health philanthropy, but ultimately found that no meaningful collaboration emerged.
