A new round of indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas is set to begin Sunday in Doha, Qatar, as international efforts intensify to broker a ceasefire and secure the release of hostages in Gaza.
The renewed talks come just a day before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House — a meeting that could prove pivotal in the push to end the nearly 22-month-long war.

Qatar, a key regional mediator, will once again host the discussions, with Hamas’s delegation led by senior negotiator Khalil al-Hayya already in the capital.

According to a Palestinian official familiar with the negotiations, the agenda will center on a potential ceasefire agreement, hostage and prisoner exchanges, and humanitarian measures including the reopening of Gaza’s Rafah crossing to facilitate medical evacuations for the wounded.

The talks follow recent remarks by Netanyahu, who confirmed that a team of Israeli negotiators was being dispatched to Doha. However, he also expressed frustration with Hamas’s latest response to the U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal, describing their demands as “unacceptable.”

Despite the challenges, there is growing international pressure — particularly from Washington — to deescalate the conflict and bring relief to civilians in the besieged Gaza Strip. President Trump has made a renewed diplomatic push in recent weeks to move both sides toward a resolution, with sources suggesting the White House is prepared to offer political and humanitarian incentives to facilitate a deal.
