The U.S. Department of State has placed direct responsibility on Hamas for the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, stating that the group’s ongoing refusal to disarm and release remaining hostages continues to fuel instability in the region.
In a recent statement, the spokesperson for the United States Department of State, Tammy Bruce emphasized that Hamas’s actions are not only prolonging the conflict but also actively obstructing critical aid efforts meant to reach the people of Gaza.

“Hamas continues to reject calls to lay down its weapons and has failed to free the hostages still in captivity,” she said. “Their violent tactics directly interfere with the delivery of much-needed humanitarian assistance.”

The remarks come amid growing international concern over the deteriorating conditions in Gaza, where access to food, medical supplies, and basic services remains severely limited. Despite coordinated efforts by global aid organizations, the distribution of humanitarian assistance has been repeatedly hampered by insecurity on the ground—something the U.S. holds Hamas accountable for.
