Tensions flared in the occupied West Bank late last night as over a hundred Israeli settlers staged a violent riot outside the headquarters of the Binyamin Regional Brigade, near the city of Ramallah. The group reportedly damaged military vehicles and assaulted both officers and soldiers using pepper spray and rocks.
The incident marks a serious escalation in settler-military relations, occurring against the backdrop of heightened unrest across the region. According to reports, the settlers gathered outside the IDF base and quickly turned aggressive, targeting Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) personnel who attempted to disperse them.

Military officials confirmed that several vehicles were vandalized during the chaos, and multiple soldiers sustained injuries during the confrontation. Some were treated for pepper spray exposure, while others were hit by stones hurled at them by the rioters.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but the episode reflects growing frustration and radicalization among certain settler groups, many of whom have opposed recent military and governmental decisions related to West Bank security operations.

This is not the first time tensions have erupted between settlers and the Israeli military. In recent months, security officials have warned of increasing settler violence — not just against Palestinians, but also against Israeli law enforcement and military personnel tasked with enforcing order in contested areas.

The Israeli government has yet to issue a formal statement on the incident. However, the growing number of settler-related clashes is expected to put additional pressure on both the military and political leadership to address extremism within settler communities.
With the West Bank already gripped by frequent confrontations, military operations, and political uncertainty, last night’s riot raises fresh concerns about internal stability and the IDF’s ability to maintain control amid deepening fractures within Israeli society.
