China’s state broadcaster has released full video footage showing two of its advanced J-16 fighter jets intercepting a foreign aircraft that it claims breached Chinese territorial airspace over disputed waters.

The video, aired by China Central Television (CCTV), captures what Beijing alleges was a “routine defensive maneuver” after a foreign military aircraft reportedly crossed into China’s territorial sea boundary.

In the footage, the twin-engine J-16 jets can be seen closely shadowing the foreign aircraft, issuing radio warnings, and signaling it to exit what China describes as its airspace.

The release of the video appears to be both a show of force and a message to rival powers operating near China’s maritime claims. It comes at a time of heightened tensions between Beijing and Western nations, particularly the United States, over freedom of navigation operations and military surveillance flights in the region.
