Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin has boldly declared that Ethereum represents the next major evolution of the internet—one capable of fundamentally transforming global finance. In his recent remarks, Lubin described the blockchain platform as a revolutionary infrastructure that is “rewiring” how value, trust, and assets are exchanged across the world.

“Ethereum is the next evolution of the internet,” Lubin stated. “It’s not just about decentralization—it’s about building a new economic system, one that is open, programmable, and inclusive.”

Lubin, who also founded ConsenSys, has long been a leading voice in the blockchain space, advocating for Ethereum’s potential to go far beyond cryptocurrency.

According to him, Ethereum is ushering in a new digital economy by enabling programmable money, decentralized applications (dApps), tokenized assets, and smart contracts—all without relying on traditional intermediaries.

With its ability to host decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols and power a wide array of Web3 innovations, Ethereum is already disrupting legacy systems in banking, real estate, art, and beyond. Lubin argues that this is just the beginning.

“We’re watching the foundations of global finance being reshaped in real time,” he added, pointing to Ethereum’s growing adoption by developers, institutions, and even governments.

As the internet of the past focused on information, Lubin sees the Ethereum-powered future as one focused on trust, ownership, and direct value exchange. With Ethereum 2.0 and scaling solutions progressing steadily, the platform is positioning itself as a cornerstone of the decentralized digital infrastructure of tomorrow.
