Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has applauded U.S President Donald Trump’s decision to assist Israel in striking Iran’s nuclear program, calling the move bold, necessary, and strategically brilliant. Speaking on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday, Graham dismissed concerns that the action could escalate into a broader conflict requiring U.S. troops on the ground.
“This was the right call at the right time,” Graham said. “It stopped their program from advancing even further.”

The senator pointed to the dramatic growth of Iran’s nuclear material stockpile, stating that in May 2022, Iran possessed 95 pounds of highly enriched uranium—enough for just a few bombs. By May 2025, that number had swelled to 900 pounds, with uranium enriched to 60%, a level that Graham emphasized has no civilian utility.

“They have one peaceful reactor in Iran, and they don’t even use their own uranium to power it—they get fuel from Russia,” he added, arguing that Iran’s nuclear intentions are anything but peaceful.
Graham insisted that allowing Iran to develop a nuclear weapon would pose an existential threat to Israel and endanger global security. “The country is in the hands of religious Nazis. They want to kill all the Jews. And they’re coming after us,” he warned. “Nuclear weapons in the hands of the Ayatollah is a nightmare for the world.”

Addressing critics who argue the strikes could trigger a wider regional war, Graham pushed back, particularly at voices like Steve Bannon. “Iran is different,” he said. “This is not about conventional warfare—this is about preventing a nuclear catastrophe.”

The remarks reflect Graham’s long-standing hawkish stance on Iran and underscore a broader debate in Washington over how best to contain Tehran’s nuclear ambitions. While the Biden administration has leaned toward diplomacy, Trump-era allies continue to defend more aggressive approaches, framing them as necessary for long-term stability.
