US President Donald Trump addresses the nation, alongside US Vice President JD Vance (L), US Secretary of State Marco Rubio (2nd R) and US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth (R), from the White House in Washington, DC on June 21, 2025, following the announcement that the US bombed nuclear sites in Iran. President Donald Trump said June 21, 2025 the US military has carried out a "very successful attack" on three Iranian nuclear sites, including the underground uranium enrichment facility at Fordo. "We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan," Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform. In a national address, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States had carried out a powerful overnight airstrike on Iran’s primary nuclear facilities, using advanced bunker-busting bombs. The move, which he described as decisive and necessary, comes amid a rapidly intensifying conflict in the Middle East, as the U.S. joins Israeli forces in a coordinated assault on Iranian targets.

President Trump, speaking from the White House, made it clear that the strikes were a direct message to Iran and any militant groups threatening U.S. interests: “No mercy for Islamic terrorists,” he declared. “We have obliterated key nuclear sites, and we will not hesitate to act again if our enemies choose aggression.”

The president emphasized that the strike was carried out in response to what he described as clear and imminent threats posed by Iran’s nuclear ambitions and its support for proxy groups across the region. Military analysts suggest the bombing campaign targeted deeply fortified underground facilities believed to house sensitive nuclear operations.

This latest operation signals a turning point in the already strained U.S.-Iran relationship, and significantly raises the stakes in the broader Middle East conflict. Israel, which has long viewed Iran’s nuclear program as an existential threat, reportedly conducted parallel strikes, making this one of the most coordinated Western military responses in the region in recent years.

Iranian officials have condemned the attacks, vowing retaliation and warning of “severe consequences” for both the United States and Israel. The global community is now bracing for potential fallout, with concerns mounting over regional instability, disruptions in oil markets, and the possibility of a wider war.

President Trump, however, stood firm, telling the American people that the nation will always act in defense of peace and security. “America will not be threatened, and we will not tolerate regimes that sponsor terror,” he said.
