Israel has intensified its military campaign against Iran with a second round of airstrikes targeting the key nuclear site in Isfahan, just hours after Tehran launched five ballistic missiles toward central Israel. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the strikes, noting that around 50 fighter jets took part in the coordinated overnight assault on Iranian military and nuclear infrastructure.

The Isfahan nuclear facility, a central hub in Iran’s atomic program, contains both a uranium conversion center and a nuclear fuel fabrication plant. The latest strike comes on the heels of initial attacks on June 13, which marked a dramatic escalation in the Israel-Iran conflict.

“Isfahan was hit in the first 24 hours, but we deepened our achievements with another wave overnight,” an Israeli official told AFP. He added that additional targets, including multiple centrifuge production sites, were also struck in recent days, significantly damaging Iran’s capacity to enrich uranium.

Centrifuges, which spin uranium hexafluoride gas at extremely high speeds to isolate fissile isotopes, are vital to Iran’s ability to produce weapons-grade material. By crippling centrifuge production, Israeli forces aim to undermine Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.

In response, Iran fired five ballistic missiles toward central Israel early Monday morning. Air raid sirens blared in Tel Aviv and surrounding cities around 2:40 a.m., but Israeli air defense systems intercepted all incoming missiles. While there were no direct casualties, debris from one interception sparked a rooftop fire in a residential building, which was quickly extinguished by emergency services.

According to Israeli officials, Iran has fired more than 470 ballistic missiles and approximately 1,000 drones at Israel since the conflict escalated on June 13. The Israeli Air Force (IAF) reported intercepting 40 drones overnight and conducting preemptive strikes on launch sites preparing to target Israel.

On Saturday, guided by real-time intelligence from the IDF Intelligence Directorate, the IAF destroyed additional missile and drone launchers near Isfahan, preventing further attacks.

As regional tensions soar, Israel’s latest actions signal its determination to degrade Iran’s offensive capabilities and nuclear infrastructure. Meanwhile, Tehran’s retaliatory efforts reflect its resolve to push back against Israeli aggression, raising fears of a broader conflict in the Middle East.
