Tensions between Israel and Iran escalated dramatically on Monday evening as a targeted Israeli airstrike hit the headquarters of Iran’s state broadcaster, IRIB, in northern Tehran. The strike came shortly after Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz issued a warning that the regime’s propaganda machinery was “about to disappear.”

The attack disrupted a live broadcast on Iranian state television, with video footage capturing the moment loud explosions interrupted programming.

The feed briefly went dark before resuming, indicating that the facility may have sustained damage, although official Iranian sources have yet to confirm any casualties or the extent of the destruction.

“The propaganda and incitement broadcasting authority of the Iranian regime was attacked,” Katz said in a post-strike statement, referring to IRIB’s role in supporting the government’s messaging during ongoing hostilities.

Earlier in the day, Israeli authorities issued an evacuation warning for a district in northern Tehran—where the IRIB building is located—hinting at the impending military action. The strike marks one of the most symbolic blows in the conflict so far, targeting a core institution of Iran’s state-run media apparatus.
