The only confirmed survivor of the tragic Air India Flight AI171 crash has been identified as Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, seated in 11A. A 38-year-old British national, Ramesh escaped with minor injuries and was spotted walking away from the wreckage shortly after the Dreamliner crash near Ahmedabad.
The Boeing 787‑8, carrying 242 people en route to London Gatwick, plummeted in the Meghani Nagar neighborhood minutes after takeoff, igniting a massive fireball and causing multiple casualties on the ground. Authorities recovered at least 204 bodies from the crash site, and other survivors on the ground were hospitalized.

Ramesh was rushed to Civil Hospital in Asarwa, where he remains under treatment for minor impact injuries. He reportedly managed to exit the aircraft unaided, even after suffering chest, foot, and eye trauma.
Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G.S. Malik confirmed the discovery of a lone survivor in seat 11A, amid ongoing investigations led by the DGCA and AAIB, with technical assistance from the UK AAIB and Boeing.
