Iran is set to present a formal counter-proposal to the United States through diplomatic channels in Oman, signaling a renewed phase in the ongoing nuclear negotiations. This comes in response to a recent U.S. offer that Tehran has labeled as “unacceptable,” marking yet another hurdle in the path toward reviving the 2015 nuclear agreement.
Speaking on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stressed that the upcoming proposal would be “reasonable, logical, and balanced,” reflecting what Tehran believes is a more equitable basis for discussion.

He asserted that Washington’s current offer does not align with the outcomes of previous negotiation rounds and fails to address Iran’s core demands.

At the heart of Iran’s concerns is the need for guaranteed economic benefits before any lifting of sanctions. Baghaei emphasized that Tehran must first see tangible improvements in banking and trade relations with other nations to ensure the viability of any new agreement.

“We must ensure before the lifting of sanctions that Iran will effectively benefit economically and that its banking and trade relations with other countries will return to normal,” he stated.
While no specific timeline has been confirmed for the next round of negotiations, potentially the sixth, Iran’s leadership has made clear that it remains firm on its nuclear stance.
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei recently rejected the U.S. proposal outright, saying it runs counter to Iran’s national interests and reiterating Tehran’s commitment to continue uranium enrichment on its own soil—a process that Western nations view with deep suspicion.

In addition to criticizing the U.S., Baghaei also turned his focus toward Israel, accusing the country of undermining nuclear diplomacy.

He called on the international community to pressure Israel into nuclear disarmament, arguing that the continued scrutiny of Iran’s nuclear program stands in stark contrast to the global silence on Israel’s alleged arsenal. “The negotiating parties should not allow Israel to disrupt diplomatic processes,” he warned.

Baghaei also hinted at the existence of sensitive Israeli documents that Iran plans to unveil—documents he claims will expose efforts by Israeli authorities to enhance their own military nuclear capabilities while casting doubt on Iran’s peaceful intentions.
As tensions remain high and geopolitical stakes rise, the next steps in the nuclear dialogue will be closely watched. Iran’s forthcoming counter-proposal could either pave the way for renewed engagement—or deepen the diplomatic impasse that has defined this complex and high-stakes negotiation for years.
