Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has firmly denied allegations suggesting he was seen wielding a firearm in a video that recently went viral on social media.
The widely circulated clip, recorded in traffic earlier this week, shows the prominent cleric engaging with a passerby while holding an unidentified object—leading some online users to speculate that he was brandishing a weapon.
In a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Pastor Adefarasin addressed the controversy, calling the claims a clear case of misunderstanding and misinformation.

“You might be aware of a video which has been circulating on social media showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm. I want to assure you of this — that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone,” the statement read.

The House on the Rock founder acknowledged the anxiety the video may have caused among his congregation and the public. He urged everyone to be cautious of misleading narratives and not fall prey to sensationalism, particularly in the digital space where context can easily be lost.

“We understand the concern that this accusation may have caused, and we will speak briefly to this mischief during the 9:00 a.m. service tomorrow. Thank you for your patience and understanding,” he added.

According to multiple eyewitness accounts, the incident reportedly occurred when an unidentified driver recognized Pastor Adefarasin while they were both stuck in traffic. The cleric rolled down his window and raised an object—an action that was misinterpreted by some as threatening.

The pastor reiterated to his followers that the object was not a firearm, and he had no intention of intimidating or threatening anyone. His message to the church family emphasized faith, peace, and personal growth.
“Dear Family, trusting that this meets you well, winning and on top of the tests of life,” he began in a follow-up message, reminding his audience to stay focused and discerning. “Do not permit the level where you are comfortable to keep you from God’s next calling upon your life.”
Pastor Adefarasin has invited the public to join Sunday’s worship service, where he plans to briefly address the issue in person, reinforcing his commitment to truth, accountability, and transparency.
