The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed ongoing military operations in the Mount Hermon region and across southern Syria, targeting terrorist infrastructure in the area.

According to an official statement by an IDF spokesperson, the Israeli military is continuing its efforts to neutralize threats emerging near its northern borders. “IDF forces continue operating on Mount Hermon and in southern Syria, targeting terrorist infrastructure,” the spokesperson said.

Mount Hermon, a strategically significant location that borders Lebanon and Syria, has often been a flashpoint for cross-border tensions. The IDF’s latest operations in this area signal heightened security measures amid increased regional threats.

The southern Syrian region, which includes areas near the Golan Heights, has also seen a surge in hostile activity from groups believed to be aligned with Iran-backed militias and other extremist factions.

Israel has long emphasized the need to maintain a buffer against hostile actors operating close to its borders. These ongoing operations are part of a broader strategy to prevent the establishment of terrorist infrastructure and preempt attacks against Israeli territory.

While the IDF did not specify which groups were being targeted, the move aligns with previous campaigns aimed at dismantling military outposts and supply lines used by Hezbollah, Iranian proxies, and other terrorist elements in the region.

This escalation comes amid a broader climate of instability in the Middle East, particularly in Syria, where multiple powers and factions are vying for control. The involvement of Israel, while often focused on defensive objectives, has regional implications and is closely monitored by the international community.

The IDF reiterated its commitment to defending Israeli citizens and territory from external threats, stressing that operations will continue as necessary to eliminate immediate dangers.
