Marcus Rashford’s future is once again the subject of major transfer speculation, with FC Barcelona reportedly still in the race to sign the Manchester United forward this summer.
According to journalist Matteo Moretto, the Catalan giants remain keen on the England international, who is expected to be available for £40 million (€48 million) when the transfer window opens.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed that Rashford has been on Barcelona’s shortlist since January, and the Spanish club is now positioning itself to make a move. Rashford’s spell at Aston Villa, where he spent the second half of the season on loan, proved to be a turning point in his form.

While Villa were initially reported to have a £40m buy option, The Sun revealed earlier this month that the Midlands club do not hold a right of first refusal, meaning any club that matches United’s asking price can enter negotiations.

Despite his resurgence at Villa Park, which earned him a return to the England national team under Thomas Tuchel, it’s unclear whether Villa will pursue a permanent deal.
This uncertainty opens the door for Barcelona, who are reportedly eager to take advantage of Rashford’s uncertain standing at Old Trafford, especially under new United boss Ruben Amorim, who does not appear to count the winger in his long-term plans.

Rashford, who is currently recovering from a hamstring injury that kept him out of United’s final four matches, is said to be open to a move to La Liga. His representatives have already met with Barcelona officials this week to discuss a potential transfer.

He is admired by new Barcelona manager Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco, both of whom believe he could add much-needed firepower to the team’s attacking line.

However, Rashford is not the only name on Barcelona’s radar. The club is also monitoring Liverpool’s Luis Díaz, who Deco has publicly acknowledged as a top priority. The Colombian international, though, would likely cost in excess of €80 million (£67 million) — a fee that could challenge Barça’s already fragile financial position.
As Rashford spends the summer continuing his rehabilitation, his absence from England’s 26-man squad and Manchester United’s post-season Asia tour only fuels speculation about an impending move. With Barcelona still keen and other clubs reportedly circling, the 26-year-old may soon be set for a fresh start abroad.
