Central Manchester witnessed a wave of political unrest this week as thousands of protesters took to the streets demanding the resignation of Labour leader Keir Starmer. The demonstrations, marked by loud chants of “Get Starmer out! Get Starmer out!”, reflect growing dissatisfaction among segments of the public and the Labour Party’s own base.

The protest, which began in the heart of the city and quickly gained momentum, was organized by a coalition of grassroots activists, disillusioned Labour supporters, and left-wing political groups.

This is not the first time Starmer has faced backlash, but the scale of the Manchester protest signals a growing challenge to his leadership ahead of the upcoming general election. While Starmer has focused on presenting Labour as a stable, moderate alternative to the Conservative government, critics argue that this approach has alienated the party’s traditional base.

Despite the intensity of the chants and the size of the crowd, the protest remained largely peaceful. Greater Manchester Police maintained a strong but restrained presence throughout the day, ensuring order as protesters marched through major city streets and gathered outside key Labour offices.
