Mohamed Salah has been crowned Premier League Player of the Season for the second time in his career, following a phenomenal individual campaign that helped propel Liverpool to a record-equalling 20th English league title.
The 32-year-old Egyptian forward enjoyed an outstanding season, scoring 28 league goals—more than any other player—and contributing 18 assists. With just one match remaining against FA Cup winners Crystal Palace, Salah is just two assists shy of matching the all-time single-season assist record held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

This award, which combines votes from the public with those from a panel of football experts, underlines Salah’s consistency, creativity, and leadership throughout the 2024/25 season.

Salah’s win ends a four-year streak of Manchester City players receiving the award. The last non-City player to achieve this honor was Liverpool teammate Virgil van Dijk in the 2018/19 season. Interestingly, Van Dijk was one of the finalists for the award this year, along with fellow Red Ryan Gravenberch.

Other nominees included Arsenal’s Declan Rice, Nottingham Forest duo Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, and Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.

Earlier this month, Salah also claimed the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Player of the Year award by an overwhelming margin, securing nearly 90% of the votes—making it the largest winning margin for the accolade in over two decades.

Salah first won the Premier League Player of the Season award in the 2017/18 campaign, and his latest triumph further cements his legacy as one of the league’s all-time greats. With Liverpool returning to the top of English football and Salah continuing to rewrite records, his influence on both club and league remains undeniable.
