The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has launched a new Candidate Counselling Emergency Support Centre (CCESC) aimed at providing urgent assistance to candidates facing examination-related challenges.
This initiative, announced via JAMB’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, is designed to complement the Board’s primary support platform and offer an alternative channel of communication for emergencies.
While the ticketing platform remains JAMB’s preferred and most efficient method for handling inquiries and resolving issues, the CCESC will serve as an additional layer of support for candidates with pressing concerns.
Candidates can now reach JAMB officials directly through the emergency line 07002200016, and speak with representatives including Gbenga, Yusuf, Dubem, Tony, Ogbonna, and Emma.
This development follows widespread public attention after a technical glitch disrupted the 2025 UTME examinations, affecting over 300,000 students, particularly in parts of the South East and Lagos. In response, JAMB announced plans to reschedule the examination for the affected candidates.
Amid the fallout, support has poured in for JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who openly acknowledged the system failure—a rare gesture in Nigeria’s public service landscape. Defending the registrar, Professor Yusuf Ali of the University of Ilorin (popularly known as the Kuliya Ngeri) issued a heartfelt statement titled “Prof. Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, The Uncommon Person.”
Ali, who disclosed a friendship with Oloyede spanning five decades, praised the Registrar’s integrity, humility, and willingness to take full responsibility for the glitch, even though it stemmed from third-party issues. He commended Oloyede for resisting the urge to ignore or downplay the issue, opting instead to face the situation with empathy and decisive action.
“Prof. Oloyede’s honesty and transparency are exceptional,” Ali wrote. “In a society where many public officials deflect blame, he chose to own the problem and seek a solution—not escape from it.”
Ali also emphasized that this is not Oloyede’s first public role, recalling his outstanding track record in previous national assignments. He added that resigning now would be a disservice, stressing that good leadership means standing firm during crises, not fleeing from responsibility.
As JAMB works to rectify the setback and assist affected candidates, the creation of the CCESC and the Registrar’s transparency signal a commitment to upholding accountability and improving trust in Nigeria’s examination system.
For urgent support, candidates can still use JAMB’s ticketing platform or call the emergency helpline: 07002200016.
