Real Madrid footballer Asencio and three of his former academy teammates are now facing formal prosecution after a court in Gran Canaria accepted proceedings against them in a case involving alleged illegal recording and distribution of explicit images.
According to Marca, the court has moved forward with criminal proceedings against Asencio, 22, and former Madrid youth players Andres García, Ferran Ruiz, and Juan Rodriguez.

The allegations stem from an incident in June 2023, during which the group is accused of secretly recording sexual content involving two women—one reportedly a minor—and sharing the footage without consent.

The judge presiding over the case has taken the step of formalising the prosecution, which paves the way for the prosecutor’s office to press charges and potentially request a trial. The group had been arrested in September 2023, at which time their mobile phones were confiscated by law enforcement officials.

Authorities believe the case involves violations of privacy, unauthorized distribution of explicit content, and exploitation of a minor for pornographic purposes. These are serious allegations that carry significant legal consequences under Spanish law.
Despite the ongoing investigation, Asencio appeared in Real Madrid’s starting lineup during their La Liga match against Mallorca on Wednesday, a move that has sparked mixed reactions among fans and commentators.
The scandal has cast a shadow over one of Spain’s most prestigious football academies and raises larger questions about accountability in professional sports. As the legal process unfolds, all eyes will remain on how the Spanish justice system navigates the complexities of the case and what consequences—if any—await the players involved.
