Jerusalem, Israel — In the early hours of Wednesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) successfully intercepted a missile launched from Yemen by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist group, marking the third such attack in just two days.

The interception triggered air raid sirens across Jerusalem, the southern West Bank, and the Dead Sea region, alarming residents and sending them rushing to shelters.

According to Israeli public broadcaster KAN, both Arrow and THAAD anti-ballistic missile defense systems were deployed to neutralize the threat. While there were no fatalities, Israel’s emergency service Magen David Adom (MDA) reported that a woman sustained injuries while running to a nearby shelter.

This incident followed two similar missile launches on Tuesday. One missile, intercepted earlier in the evening, triggered sirens as far north as Tel Aviv and throughout central Israel. A second missile fired later that night reportedly crashed en route to Israel, and no alerts were activated as a result.

The Houthis, who are heavily supported by Iran, have been increasing their attacks against Israel, despite recent diplomatic efforts. While the United States announced a ceasefire agreement with the Houthis last week, the militant group explicitly stated that the truce does not apply to Israel, vowing to continue its strikes.

These repeated missile attacks underscore the growing regional tensions and the expanding threat posed by the Houthi movement far beyond Yemen’s borders. Israel’s multi-layered air defense systems, including the Iron Dome, David’s Sling, Arrow, and now THAAD, have been working in overdrive as the threat landscape evolves.

As tensions persist, the situation continues to raise concerns not just for Israel, but for broader Middle East stability.
