Brazilian winger Antony has found his spark again in Spain, enjoying a productive loan spell with Real Betis after a tough season at Manchester United.
Since his six-month move to the Benito Villamarín Stadium, the 24-year-old has impressed under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini, notching nine goal contributions in 18 appearances across all competitions.
With Antony adapting well to life in La Liga and playing a key role in Betis’ push for European qualification, the Seville-based club has expressed a strong desire to keep him beyond the summer.
Earlier this week, Betis tabled an initial bid in hopes of extending his stay on a season-long loan. However, Manchester United swiftly rejected the offer, making it clear they are not interested in another temporary move.

The Red Devils, who shelled out a hefty £85 million ($113 million) to sign Antony from Ajax in 2022, are now focused on cutting their losses. United are reportedly hoping to recoup around £30 million ($40 million) from a permanent sale this summer, as they prepare to reshape their squad for the upcoming season.

According to The Telegraph, Betis are not giving up easily. The club is expected to return with an improved offer before the end of the season, determined to beat out any other potential suitors for Antony’s signature.
Currently, Betis covers 84% of Antony’s wages, including bonuses, and are willing to continue shouldering the bulk of his salary as part of a long-term arrangement.

Antony’s resurgence in Spain has not only reignited his career but also sparked a transfer tug-of-war ahead of the summer window.

With Manchester United planning a squad overhaul under incoming sporting director Dan Ashworth, the club is looking to reinvest funds into key targets such as Matheus Cunha, Liam Delap, and Ademola Lookman.
It’s also evident that United have no long-term plans for Antony, nor does new manager Rúben Amorim, who is expected to green-light the Brazilian’s departure as part of the club’s broader rebuild strategy.

As the 2024/25 season approaches, Antony’s future hangs in the balance. Real Betis appears fully committed to retaining him, but it remains to be seen whether they can meet United’s asking price—or if another club swoops in with a more attractive offer. One thing is certain: Antony has proven he still has plenty to offer, and his revival in Spain may just be the start of a new chapter.
