Brazilian winger Antony has found a new lease on life since making the switch to La Liga, rediscovering the form that once made him a sought-after talent.

After a challenging spell at Manchester United, the 24-year-old has impressed with his performances for Real Betis, contributing four goals and four assists in just 11 appearances across all competitions.

His resurgence has reignited discussions about his future, and in a recent interview with DAZN, he reflected on his journey, his time in the Premier League, and what lies ahead.

Antony’s move to Real Betis has not only reignited his attacking spark but has also given him a sense of belonging that he struggled to find in England. Speaking about his experience in Spain, he emphasized how much he enjoys life in Seville.

“I found myself here. I needed to feel happy again, and my family needed to be happy too. Every day, I realize this was the best decision I could have made. The city, the club, the people—everything reminds me of Brazil, from the sun to the food and the warmth of the fans. That makes a huge difference for someone like me,” Antony shared.

Despite his turbulent time at Manchester United, Antony remains appreciative of the club and manager Erik ten Hag, who brought him to Old Trafford from Ajax in a high-profile £82 million transfer. Reflecting on his time in the Premier League, he expressed gratitude rather than bitterness.

“If they pay that kind of money for you, it’s because you have talent and quality. Wherever I go, I will always speak highly of United. I’m very grateful to the club and to Erik ten Hag for everything we experienced together—for the titles and for everything I learned. There were difficult moments, but also many good ones. I believe those experiences prepared me for where I am today, enjoying my football again.”

While Antony has remained diplomatic about his long-term future, his words and performances strongly suggest that he may not see himself returning to Manchester United.

According to reports from ABC de Sevilla, Betis and United are set to hold discussions regarding his next steps. His representatives will also be involved as all parties seek a resolution.

Antony has made it clear that he wants to stay at Betis, and the club is eager to keep him beyond this season. However, financial hurdles remain a significant challenge. Currently, Betis covers only a fraction of his salary, with United still paying the majority of his wages.

Given that his contract at Old Trafford runs until 2027, the Premier League club may favor a permanent transfer rather than extending his loan.

One factor that could influence Antony’s future is Betis’ chances of securing a Champions League spot. Pellegrini’s side is currently in sixth place in La Liga, fighting for a top-four finish. Qualification for Europe’s elite competition would strengthen their financial position, potentially enabling them to negotiate a deal for the Brazilian winger.
