Eniola Bolaji Shines Again with Another Gold at Spanish Para-Badminton International

Nigerian para-badminton player, Eniola Bolaji has once again proven her dominance in para-badminton SL3, securing her second gold medal in just two weeks.

The world number two and Paralympic bronze medalist delivered an outstanding performance at the Spanish Para-Badminton International 2025 in Toledo, Spain, where she triumphed over Turkey’s Halime Yildiz with a commanding 2-0 (21-7, 21-10) victory in the final.

Bolaji’s journey to the top was nothing short of remarkable. She began her campaign with a decisive win against India’s Sanjana Kumari, defeating her 2-0 (21-15, 21-8) in the second round.

She then faced Halime Yildiz again in the third round, winning convincingly 2-0 (21-9, 21-12). In the semifinals, she showcased her skill and determination by overpowering Ukraine’s Oksana Kozyba with a 2-0 (21-16, 21-4) victory.

Her incredible consistency and dominance have not gone unnoticed. Francis Orbih, President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, praised her outstanding achievements, emphasizing her historic status as the only African player to win 12 gold medals in all international tournaments played.

“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Eniola Bolaji on this incredible milestone. Winning 12 gold medals in as many international tournaments is a testament to her consistency, resilience, and unwavering commitment to excellence,” Orbih said.

“She has not only made Nigeria proud but has firmly established herself as a global force in para-badminton. Her journey is an inspiration to many, and we at the Badminton Federation of Nigeria remain dedicated to supporting her as she reaches even greater heights.”

Looking ahead, excitement is building for the upcoming All African Para-Badminton Championship and the Abia International Para-Badminton Championship.

Orbih expressed his enthusiasm for Nigeria hosting these prestigious events, recognizing them as a platform to showcase the country’s rich badminton culture and unearth future champions.

“It gives me great joy that Nigeria, the giants of Africa in para-badminton, will be hosting these international tournaments. This will provide an opportunity to further expose our emerging talents to the world. We are grateful to the Abia State Government for accepting to host these historic events.”
