In a strategic move aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s livestock sector, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Professor Attahiru Muhammadu Jega as the Special Adviser and Coordinator of the Presidential Livestock Reform.
The appointment, announced on Friday by presidential media aide Bayo Onanuga, underscores Tinubu’s commitment to fostering sustainable agricultural development in the country.
Jega, a former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), previously served as Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano.

He co-chaired the Presidential Livestock Reform Committee alongside President Tinubu, playing a pivotal role in crafting comprehensive recommendations to address challenges in the sector.
One of the key proposals from the committee was the establishment of a dedicated Livestock Ministry, which has since been implemented with a minister now overseeing its affairs.
